Salam Eid il Fitr

Many visit the graves of those who have past,

But this is no sad day,

As we have been told to celebrate.

On this day,

The day when we have completed the Fast,

We celebrate,

Our triumph over our many lusts.

It is the first day of Syawal,

It is Hari Raya Aidilfitri,

It is a happy day,

For children and teenagers and adults a like.

And during the coming week,

The children and teenagers will go to their friends' houses,

To visit; and more importantly,

Collect the duit raya.

And everyone will enjoy the food,

Be it in the city,

Or in the countryside,

I myself look forward to eating lemang.

Ah,

The assortment of foods available after a long month of fasting,

Alhamdullillah,

We have made it through the month of Ramadan.

An on this day,

Everyone asks for forgiveness,

For past wrongdoings,

And to let go of old grudges.
